Set of Three Old Kutani Ware Painted Bowls, Japan

Porcelain bowls in the Old Kutani style, with very finely executed underglaze painting. The bowls are painted with traditional landscapes and pavilions, the brushwork lively and the colors richly layered, incorporating the classic blue, green, red and yellow of Kutani's five-color palette. The exterior is framed with a continuous geometric border, and the center of the interior is painted with a classical auspicious motif, adding layers of detail and cultural meaning. The base shows a vermilion “九谷” (Kutani) mark, the traditional mark of the Kutani line. The forms are regular and well preserved, the porcelain solid and the painting intact; though old, they are very suitable for both use and appreciation. Taishō-period Kutani Ware Large Plate, Japan

A large piece measuring 40 cm across, a typical Taishō-period kinrande overglaze work of the Kutani kiln line. The center features a genre scene of warrior figures, the faces finely drawn and the robes outlined in gold paint, rich in layers. Around the inner rim, kinrande brocade grounds alternate with karakusa scrolls and flowering sprays to form a ring; at the top is an emblem of an auspicious bird (phoenix-like), flanked by flowers and geometric roundel patterns, together forming the classic Kutani visual vocabulary of a realistic main scene framed by a brocade border. The reverse is painted with scattered auspicious objects and bears the “Kutani zō” (made in Kutani) mark, giving a clear indication of origin that aids collecting and scholarly reference.

Commemorative Celadon Large Dish with Relief Portraits of Successive Yokozuna, Japan

This is a commemorative collector's large dish on the theme of Japanese sumo culture. Fired in mellow, elegant celadon, its surface is worked in three-dimensional relief, vividly depicting several of the most representative yokozuna in the history of Japanese sumo. Around the dish can be seen the names of famous yokozuna, including Akashi Shiganosuke, Tanikaze Kajinosuke, Onogawa Kisaburō, Ōnomatsu Midorinosuke, Inazuma Raigorō, Shiranui Dakuemon and Hidenoyama Raigorō — all legendary figures of great importance in the development of sumo. More than a functional porcelain piece, it is a commemorative artwork combining Japanese sports culture, historical figures and ceramic craft; for collectors who love Japanese culture and the history of sumo, it holds considerable collecting value and conversational interest.

Japanese Green-Glazed Ceramic Coffee Cup Set | With Wooden Box

This Japanese green-glazed ceramic coffee set takes a warm, quiet green glaze as its keynote, with dark rims on the cups and saucers, creating a very elegant Japanese retro atmosphere. The cups are simple and solid in form, with steady proportions; instead of showy decoration, the visual focus is the depth of the glaze itself and the texture of the pottery. This design fits the aesthetic common to Japanese wares: understated, enduring and practical, revealing more of its character the more it is used. Five cups and saucers can be seen in the set, neatly matched, and it is kept in a wooden box, adding to its completeness and collectibility.
