Early Vintage Milk Can, Japan (One Remaining)

These early vintage Japanese milk cans date from the Shōwa period and were probably widely used on farms or for transporting milk. Milk cans were an indispensable part of farming and daily life, and these reflect the scenes and way of life of Japan's agricultural society at the time. Owing to their age, the cans show clear rust; the base of one has rusted through, and the lids of both cans cannot be opened because of rust. They suit antique collectors, lovers of vintage style and those who enjoy industrial design. Whether for decoration, collecting or as a set-dressing piece, they bring a strong sense of history and culture to a space. (Only one remaining; its base has rusted through)

Cast-Iron Kama Kettle, Japan

A traditional Japanese iron kama (tetsubin), likely a Nanbu-style cast-iron tea ceremony utensil. The body is full and thick, covered all over with the arare (hailstone) pattern of raised hemispherical bosses — a classic decorative idiom of Nanbu ironware that also has the practical benefit of improving heating efficiency and heat retention. The lid knob is shaped as a pine cone, symbolizing evergreen longevity and the spirit of Zen, and the two lugs at the sides carry a bail handle, fully preserving the antique form and the craft tradition. It can be used for boiling water at a tea gathering or brewing tea, and also for a scholar's display, an antique collection or as an accent in a room. Owing to its age and use, the interior has some water stains, rust and scale — normal for an old piece.
